Sound in essence, is vibration. Sound and tones created with healing intent have great vibratory benefits for us. Toning will induce the glandular system to release hormone and create a relaxation response. Therapeutic intentioned sound will release anxiety and stress, promoting greater focus and clarity. Well-intentioned sound vibrations will also initiate a healing response within the physical and subtle energy bodies. Sound has also been used as a gateway to mystical consciousness within many spiritual traditions from ancient times to present day. This introductory workshop explores sound and vibrational healing practices from an intuitive and heart-centered spirit. Fascinating studies and anecdotes of sound healing will prime us into fun explorations of vocal toning, and a rich array of simple sound medicine practices available for hands-on practitioners. Toning demonstrations of chakra and energy field work will be given and utilized for group and partner exercises. Participants will gain an overview of sound healing modalities used today as complementary medicine, and recognize the benefits of integrating more sound healing into our current practices. |
My awareness of vibrational healing was awoken while living in the country and learning about plants, wildcrafting herbals and tinctures, being shown Bach Remedies & American Flower Essences and the healing properties of gemstones and crystals. Massage and healing studies began in 1983 through '84 under private tutorage in the Edgar Cayce-Reilly tradition. This directed me on a new path, and in 1985, I went for further training to the Florida School of Massage in Gainesville, receiving a 1000-hour diploma; followed by advanced studies at the Institute of Natural Healing in St. John Neuromuscular Therapy. Sound healing and vibrational medicine came to me, and I discovered working with the subtle energies of the auric field. My practice became multi-faceted as I continued to offer massage and clinical bodywork, while developing a practice in vibrational healing, or a combo of both. In 1989, I began facilitating sound healing classes and it was from these early beginnings and ongoing studies that these C.E. workshops arose. I have also been receivng training and insights in sound vibrational medicine since 1987 through attending International Sound Colloquium, International Sound Healing Conference, Cymatics Conference, and numerous darshans and retreats for awakening consciousness. "Sound will be the medicine of the future." Edgar Cayce, (1877-1945), now honored as the Father of Holistic Medicine, spoke prophetically over three quarters of a century ago, seeing through time into our present day. We are now witnessing the transformational nature of sound being recognized in medicine, in part due to the research of sound pioneer, Hans Jenny (1904-1972), a Swiss doctor and natural scientist. Jenny researched sound waves and their effect on various moveable particles and substances. This contribution to the field of sound science, called Cymatics, dramatically demonstrates how the world around us is patterned through the interactions of vibrations. Our world is literally a pictograph of sound in motion! |
