Traditional Lomi Lomi Massage incorporates shamanic dance movements while spiraling light and love into the physical body with the forearm and elbow. Lomi Lomi Massage helps to promote energy to flow more freely throughout the client’s body; releasing stress and tension that is stored within the muscles. Specific attention is paid to the use of arms and forearms along with special palm and hand movements. This educational experience includes lecture, meditation, special breathing techniques for self-revitalization, hand-outs, demonstration, practice, and discussion. By the end of this training, you will be able to give a full body Lomi Lomi Massage, as well as incorporate this modality into your own bodywork practice. This course is a must for massage therapists looking for ways to save their hands from the possible fatigue of traditional massage. |
Lynn Harris has devoted her entire working career to the art and practice of massage therapy. Having started her studies in 1977 with Swedish Massage, Reflexology, and Polarity Massage, Lynn now holds certifications in Neuromuscular Therapy, Zero Balancing and Lomi Lomi, with advanced training in Craniosacral Therapy, Esoteric Healing, and Deep Tissue Massage. Lynn also incorporates lymphatic massage, visceral manipulation, Bowen Technique, and tuning forks into her massage therapy session. This past year Lynn received training from the Egoscue University as a Postural Alignment Specialist. Her latest area of interest and study is Continuum Movement. When Lynn has free time you will find her in her garden or hiking in the mountains. |

The Lomilomi Tradition Lomilomi, derived from the Master healers of Hawaii known as Kahunas and is one of the most profound forms of massage. Lomilomi means to weave love and light, while unweaving unhealthy patterns in the body. It also means to break up into little pieces. The depth of Lomilomi is virtually limitless in terms of its ability to offer potential for healing. Lomi is offered as a living prayer, often using sacred chants, while recognizing the Divinity of each person. The Hawaiians believe that we are all connected through the aloha spirit, and through the breath, and that human beings are meant to live in harmony with respect for one another and ourselves. During a lomilomi session, the practitioner connects with the soul of the person receiving the work, and love flows through her mind, heart and out her hands, into the person on the table. A lomi session can be either relaxing or invigorating, depending on the desired outcome of the session. People often comment afterwards that it felt as if more than one person gave them a massage. This is because the practitioner can dance over the entire body, using both forearms at once. |
"I am writing to let you know how much attending your class in August (1 year ago) has meant to me--it truly has changed my life!! Much of that is the lomi lomi technique I learned, but an instrumental part in "unraveling" my body and spirit was the complete session that I received from you in the class. Your session was the most life-changing experience I've had in bodywork, and I want to thank you for choosing me that day. As a result, I have been able to help a large number of clients who are responding so well to lomi lomi, and I enjoy spreading the light, love, and aloha through the technique and lifestyle that is lomi lomi."
